Love this Art District area Casa Don Juan is located in. Lots of bars, antique store & eclectic places.
Walked in to this very cute busy Mexican restaurant & were immediately seated. On the left of the door is a refrigerated selection of mouthwatering cakes. Yum!
Ordered Margaritas w/ salt which were good & strong so the chips, beans & salsa went well. Split the Steak Fajitas & Shrimp/Chicken Fajitas w/ corn tortillas which were larger than usual ones that are for street tacos. It was all delicious! They also have a side of habanero sauce which wasn't too spicy & good. I like hot sauces.
I highly recommend this spot & look forward to trying much more. -

We have been coming to Casa Don Juan for over 10 years and have had some wonderful memories with friends, family over great drinks and food.
This time we decided to bring our 4 kids for the first time. We got seated immediately and served their delicious chips, salsa and bean dip.
Our server was a tall guy named Christian. He did not introduce himself he just quickly took our orders. No big deal, we understand how hectic and busy it can get on a sunday.
The problem started when the waiter got our order incorrect. Once the food came out my son and husbands order was incorrect. The rest of the orders were correct.
My son ordered a double cheese burger but when the order arrived he got a single patty burger. No big deal, they put another order for another patty.
My husband ordered a chicken taco and chicken enchilada meal. When he got his dish he noticed he had a chicken taco and beef enchilada. He called the waiter back and told him his order was incorrect as he ordered all chicken not beef.
The waiter said, "isn't that chicken?" with an attitude and snatched the plate of the table and stormed out of our view all while my 4 kids witnessed his awful attitude.
Again, we kept our cool because of our kids.
About 10-15 minutes later my son's burger patty and husbands food comes out. By this time everyone else was done eating.
By this time my son's burger was cold
My husband picked up his chicken taco and it was so wet it opened up from the bottom. Was it from sitting on the dish for a while? We will never know?
Again, my husband called the waiter and told him the food was not acceptable. The waiter coped an attitude and my husband asked to speak to the manager.
The manager Alberto came to our table, he listened to our concerns and apologized about Christian's attitude and mannerisms and waived my son's and husbands plate off the bill.
The server brought out our bill and my husband noticed the bill did not reflect what the manager stated. He called the waiter and explained what the manager had promised. The server snatches the bill crumbles it by my ear and storms away. By this time I feel embarrassed that my kids had to witness this and we walked away from the table. I feel sorry for the server because he is apparently having a bad day and it's affecting the way he performs.
Yeap that's right I was not upset after leaving I simply explained to my kids that this is not how anyone should be treated and that if you pay for a service you should not settle for less.
Unfortunately, this is not the experience we expected and as a result we won't be returning again.
I hope management understands how good food and good costumer service goes hand in hand. -

This restaurant was recommended by a friend of a friend, so we went here to eat dinner. We waited for the rest of our large party to arrive before we were seated in the back. The waiter was pretty amazing, super attentive, and we got our drinks and food pretty quickly. In fact, we had a few waiters come by to refill our glasses of water, which is always a bonus for me because I drink a lot of water when I eat.
I ordered #6 with one chicken taco and one beef taco, both with a soft shell instead of hard. Both tacos were delicious and the plate was huge. With the rice and beans, I struggled to finish everything. I also order a margarita that was delicious.
At the end of dinner, the waiters had no problems splitting our checks into 7 checks.
Great food, friendly and awesome wait staff, and the price wasn't too bad for the size. The only thing that was annoying was trying to find parking, but that's just the nature of downtown. I'm glad we came here to eat! -

Sharing this with the world because I think it needs to be said. I've been coming to CDJ for many years and I don't remember EVER paying 30%+ of a lunch bill for guac, queso, and a side of salsa. Quality of food is still amazing. However, for a small 6oz bowl of guac to be $12.99 is completely ridiculous. Will not be back. Can't blame the Chinese tariffs on this

Update: very disappointed my wife and I was finishing leftovers the next day and she found a rock in her burrito
My wife has been wanting to try this place for a long time. The restaurant was bigger than I expected. Side note they have free parking in the back. My wife ordered a lemon drop margarita, I had long beach both $7.99/each. They gave us complimentary chips, salsa and refried beans dips. Very good and authentic taste. My wife ordered a Super Wet Burrito and ordered the chicken Chimichainsidengas. She enjoyed her food. Mine was good too but I would prefer some kind of salsa or sauce in the of the shell. Our waiter was nice and attentive but we never got his name. Our receipt says Raul. The bill came out to a total of $50. I wish I knew about the Groupon which comes with 2 entrees and 2 margaritas for $27
